Magdalena! We're here!

Saturday our team was a le to enjoy some sun and waves at Puerto San Jose. We took 2 vans , ate our Pollo Campero lunch there, and returned to Antigua for a final meal with our families. Sunday morning we all met for a quick breakfast @ McDonald's and walked to Iglesia del Camino bilingual church. Amazing experience worshipping inGuatemala with other groups from Florida, Kentucky, Georgia, Oregon and Texas! Loved every minute. We walked across the street for lunch at Luna de Miel. The afternoon we were on our own to explore, we had an awesome wood fired pizza at Quesos y Vinos before we went and picked up our suitcases and headed for a 45 minute drive to Magdalena. We me our new host families and went to our houses as it was late. The rest of the team arrives Monday night , so the home stays are not complete. My motherly instinct worried for some of the kids off with minimal Spanish on their own. Today is Monday and e wry one got a good nights rest and are well fed.
After breakfast this morning, all of us met at Mario and Ingrid's house and had a group prayer time. I gave a mini orientation of do's and don'ts for Magdalena. Megan Borges led us in song with her guitar and we sang from some song sheets I had printed out before we left home. Wow! It is great bonding already with the team. After that was over, we took a walking tour of Magdalena and visited everyone's homes. At every house , and at the church where much of the devotion and site orientation takes place, a different student volunteered to pray. I was excited to see students step up and pray for each other, the host families by name, and their homes as well. Parents you would be proud to see your kids taking an active role. May god continue to be glorified amongst our team and in this community. Prayers now for hose arriving in just a few short hours as they have not yet experienced the Guatemalan life and assimilate into the team, and Guatemala. I am just so ready for them all to be here! Blessings to all of you at home!l
