An orphanage visit and Antigua fun!!

Saturday we celebrated Coby's actual birthday. He turned 15 on Guatemalan soil. Coby has been such a blessing to us on the team but in spite of it being his birthday, Coby recieved some of the worst news he could have gotten in the morning from home. A close family friend and father passed away in Washington. The funeral will be a week from Monday, and Coby has made the difficult decision to return home with his Mom after his Mom joins the team tomorrow to help colead the team. How very difficult for them! Please be in prayer for them both as next week we begin our mission trip. Christine and Mike, Tyler, Riley, and Coby, prayers for God to wrap His arms around you and that His love will cover you all and be a comfort to your friend Gail and her kids. Blessings to you-we love you and can't wait for you to get here! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Our excursion yesterday was to visit La Pinada and  an orphanage in Santiago. My friend Hilmar, cares for the kids in this community and we were able to meet some of them and see the soup kitchen where he provides meals twice a week to a little over 80 children living in tin shacks. We visited one of the homes where a stove was built for the family allowing then to have a chimney, rather than heating their stoves by using  firewood in a smoke filled house.

We saw the orphanage as well, where a man named Jorge, from La Pinada, has taken in 8 little boys, one from a garbage dumpster at 20 days old. We met a woman there who cares for those kids as if they were her own. Hilmar and Jorge both shared that many nonprofits may earn money in order to provide the food and shelter needed, but they provide for the kids with faith and certainty that God would provide. A visit to a place like La Pinada and that orphanage put life in perspective for us, and our tiny problems fade away. We truly are blessed.

We are so thankful for you at home, our family and friends, that continue to pray for God to be revealed to us in a way it never has before. To God be ALL the glory ALWAYS.
