Language school Day One!

The day started out very WET! Rainy day beginnings is not ideal, but we ARE in Guatemala. All the students on the team made it to Centro Linguistico Maya on time and were distributed to a long line of teachers that knew me by name! It felt like a family reunion-how I love that!
I spoke with Arturo, the director to place the students in beginning, intermediate, or advanced. Students had asked me to place them where they wanted, and  it seems that EVERY enjoyed their experiences with their teachers. They all have homework tonight - either verbs conjugations, vocabulary to put in sentences, etc. I had beginners come to me excited that they could speak as much as they dis, and intermediates confident that what they learned last year at either school/language school or both helped and they saw a difference already and it is just the first day! I do think so,e ,ifs were a till tired after the long day of travel yesterday, but all was food.

We did a little retail therapy in the afternoon after an amazing lunch with our host families. In our house alone, we have 11 students studying or on mission to rips staying ther! One is from Japan, another from Italy (both with excellent Spanish) others from Iowa and Georgia! Wow! Such a great experience! So.. We went to the market this afternoon after purchasing some much needed  rain pots because our shoes were all soaked and not drying too quickly.

We met and exchanged money before the market so we had money to use there, and found incredible deals by some of my friends at the market. Haha..they remember many of the kids from years past and offer to sell us their "recuerdos" at good prices. We stopped by McDonalds on the way home for a snack and at around 5:30 went to our houses. The students then ate dinner at either 6:00 or 6:30, and then were told it was HW time or to bed, none is to go out after dinner.

I am ready for the rain to stop. Some of the communities in the outskirts are having a problem with the drainage of their water, and even some transportation. Pray for it to stop quickly, or at least not rain for such a long period of time. Luckily, all the students have raincoats or boots to deal with the weather. Next week we will be in Magdalena and it will be rather muddy. Apparently they have a team there this week, and it does effect their ministry and what God has called them to do. God Is good and will use this for His glory as well. We love and appreciate you all!
